Persian Dance 101 Technique and Combinations

About the Class:
This class is great for beginners and also great review for more intermediate level dancers. Dancers will learn basic foot patterns and arm movements found in Persian dance. Basic steps will be put in combinations to different styles of music.
Level: Beginning but all are welcome!

In-Person: Afghan Choreography Dance Series
Dates: January 10, 17, 24, 31
Dancers can arrive as early as 6pm to warm-up and be ready to start promptly at 6:15pm.

About the Series:
Learn Afghan Dance technique and a full choreography to add to your dance repertoire. Class starts with a full-body warm-up and then moves into specific movements, combinations and spins central to Afghan Dance. Combinations taught will build to a fun and energetic choreography.
If you are a new student of Afsaneh Arts or more at the beginning of your dance journey please email nayundance@gmail.com and share a little about yourself and your dance experience to see if the Ensemble is a good fit. You may be asked to take a few Technique classes to gauge if you are ready to join the ensemble.
More about the Ensemble:
Dancers will learn choreography in the styles of Persian Dance, Afghan Dance, Tajik Dance and Uzbek Dance depending on upcoming performance opportunities. Dancers are not required to perform but are encouraged to do so. Dependent on upcoming performances, past choreographies will be run from 7:30-7:45pm.
January Focus: Afghan
February Focus: Persian Dance
March: No Class (Rehearsals for Upcoming Nowruz Shows)
We will have semi-regular performances with most costuming provided (not including shoes and underclothes)

Level: This course is for intermediate level dancers with at least 3 years of experience in dance. If you are not sure if you are at the correct level feel free to email Natalie to see if this is the right fit.
Over 12 hours of dance immersing yourself in Ballet Afsaneh Persian Dance Technique, Choreography, Improvisation and more! Space is limited for individual attention so make sure to sign up early.

Persian Dance Nowruz Choreography for Intermediate/Advanced Dancers - 5-week Series
Date: February 6, 13, 20, 27, March 5 | 5PM PST
About the Series:
Join Natalie Nayun for a new dance choreography workshop for Nowruz! Class will be geared towards intermediate/advanced dancers but adventurous beginners welcome. Class starts with a full-body warm-up, technique, then dancers are taught combinations that will build to a full choreography. Optional performance opportunities both online and possibly in-person (in the bay area dependent on dancer location)

Modern & Contemporary Dance
Natalie teaches Modern/Contemporary Dance deeply influenced by her love of Central Asian Dance. Her classes offer strong technique, improvisational exercises, exploratory movement games and conclude with dynamic combinations.
